About Head Coach Emma Quinn

I have been involved within the sport of Triathlon for over 15 years, starting out as a young and relentless 17 year old, I spent my early years in the sport training at the University of Queensland whilst studying a degree in Sport and Exercises Science. Whilst completing my Honours research Project which looked at the Effects of Caffeine on Professional Male Cyclists I began to dabble in coaching, initially within the club environment and then progressing to coaching Masters swimming at UQ. It quickly became clear to me that this was a role I was made for, it provided me with the opportunity to combine my scientific knowledge with my passion and love for the sport whilst helping driven individuals achieve their goals.

I began to have some individual success as a top end age group athlete and also dabbled in some more competitive Open/Elite racing on the Queensland circuit. I placed as high as 6th in the ITU World Championships in Beijing in 2011 and have since gone on to represent Australia eight times across Sprint, Olympic, Duathlon and 70.3 racing. I believe I bring a unique skillset to my role as a Head Coach through the combination of my tertiary level degree and athletic success

So far, I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to work with and coach athletes from all around Australia and overseas, helping them achieve their personal goals, whilst learning, growing and developing a high-performance mindset.

I pride myself on delivering personalised, well planned and periodized training programs to athletes of all abilities with a focus on maximising their athletic potential whilst maintaining a life balance (all whilst most importantly enjoying the process). My philosophy as a coach is to uniquely combine a scientific yet simplistic training program which is adaptable and able to be effectively integrated into an athlete’s life. I also acknowledge as a coach the importance of other elements of performance, including recovery methods, strength and conditioning and nutrition and am continually developing my skills and knowledge in these areas as well as communicating with other exercise professionals whom an athlete may have in their stable.
